Plans and Billing

Sidenote has three plans. Everyone starts on Free and can upgrade at any time. Reviewers are always free, on every plan — they never need an account or a seat.

Free — $0

No credit card required.

• Limits: 5 active documents, 3 versions per document
• Storage: 250 MB
• Reviewers: Unlimited, via share links
• Includes: share links, deliverable links, JSON export, accessibility audit, and full MCP + API access

Good for running a handful of reviews and testing whether Sidenote fits your workflow. Archiving a document frees up one of your five active slots.

Pro — $19/month or $190/year

• Documents and versions: Unlimited
• Storage: 2 GB

Everything in Free, plus:

• Password-protected share links
• Expiring share links
• PDF and Markdown exports (Free includes JSON)
• Brand audit
• Brand spec authoring — creating, editing and publishing brand specs. Reading a brand spec is available on every plan.
• Importing a brand from a PDF
• Removing Sidenote branding from deliverable links, and using your own logo

Billing: $19 per month, or $190 per year (the equivalent of two months free).

Team — $79/month or $790/year

Team is not yet available to buy. The details below describe the plan as it will launch.

Team is one flat price for the whole workspace, not a per-seat charge. Add as many members as you need without the bill changing, and reviewers stay free as always.

Everything in Pro, plus:

• Shared team workspaces
• Role-based permissions (owner, admin, member, viewer)
• Pooled storage shared across the workspace

Billing: $79 per month, or $790 per year (two months free), flat.

MCP and API access

MCP and API access are included on every plan, including Free, and are not metered. Inference runs on your own agent, so we do not charge for the connection. A fair-use rate limit applies to protect the service from runaway request loops; normal agent work will not reach it.

Which plan applies

The workspace decides the plan. A document in a team workspace gets the team's plan and consumes the team's storage — including documents locked to their creator — regardless of who uploaded it or whether they later leave. Deliverable links carry the workspace's branding for the same reason: what a client sees never depends on one person's account.

Your personal workspace is governed by your own subscription alone. Joining a team does not change what your personal workspace can do, and leaving one does not change it back — there is no inheritance in either direction.

Upgrading

• From the dashboard sidebar, click Upgrade, or visit the pricing page.
• Choose monthly or annual billing.
• Complete checkout. Pro is active immediately.

Managing your subscription

From the dashboard sidebar, click Manage to open the Paddle-powered billing portal. There you can:

• Update your payment method
• Switch between monthly and annual billing
• View your invoices
• Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the billing period, then return to Free. Existing documents stay accessible, but you cannot create new ones beyond the Free limit.
