Exporting

Export your review feedback as JSON, Markdown, PDF, or W3C Web Annotation format.

Exporting

Sidenote offers three export formats so you can take your feedback wherever it needs to go — into a ticket tracker, a design handoff document, a meeting, or another tool in your workflow.

Export options are available from the annotation sidebar when you open a document you own. Reviewers on a share link do not get them: if you want a recipient to keep a copy, send a deliverable link with downloads enabled instead. JSON is available on every plan; PDF and Markdown are included with Pro.

JSON

A structured, machine-readable export containing all document metadata, annotations (with their element anchors, text content, author, and timestamps), replies, and audit findings. The JSON includes a summary with total, open, and resolved counts.

This format is designed for integration. Feed it into your project management tool, a CI pipeline, or an AI agent for automated triage. It's also the format used by the MCP integration for AI-powered review workflows.

Markdown

A readable summary of the review: every annotation with its author, label and thread, in plain Markdown. Useful for pasting into a pull request, a ticket, a Notion page, or a message to whoever needs to act on the feedback.

Included with Pro.

PDF

The document as it was reviewed, with the annotations drawn onto it. This is the format to send to someone who was not part of the review and needs to see what was flagged and where, without opening Sidenote.

Included with Pro.
