Question 1

What counts as an "active document"?

Accepted Answer

Any document that isn't archived. You can archive documents when review is complete to free up your limit on the Free plan. Pro has unlimited documents.

Question 2

Do reviewers need accounts?

Accepted Answer

No. Reviewers access documents via share links and can comment without signing up. Only uploaders (the person managing documents) need an account. Reviewers are always free, on every plan.

Question 3

What is MCP access?

Accepted Answer

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI agents connect to Sidenote programmatically. Your agent authenticates via OAuth 2.1, uploads documents, reads annotations, and iterates, creating a human-in-the-loop review cycle. MCP and API access are included on every plan, including Free, and are not metered: inference runs on your own agent, so we do not charge for the connection. Creating, editing and publishing brand specs over MCP requires a paid plan; reading them does not.

Question 4

How does Team pricing work?

Accepted Answer

Team is a flat $79 per month (or $790 annually) for the whole workspace. No per-seat charges: add as many members as you need, and reviewers are always free. The team shares a pooled review allowance and pooled storage, and MCP + API access is unlimited.

Question 5

Can I switch plans?

Accepted Answer

You can upgrade from Free to Pro at any time, and the change takes effect immediately. You can cancel Pro whenever you like; you keep access until the end of the billing period, then return to the Free plan. Existing documents stay accessible, but you can't create new ones beyond the Free limit.

Question 6

Can I buy Team today?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pro and Team are both live. Team gives the whole workspace one flat price, with shared workspaces, role-based permissions and a pooled review allowance.

Simple, transparent pricing
